Christmas greetings 2024!

Dear friends and family,

2024 was a good year for us; we hope that it was a good year for you as well!

We both continue to be retired, but we remain quite busy with our involvements in nonprofit organizations.

  • Both of us continue to be significantly involved with the Union Gospel Mission of Portland (UGM).  Dan continues to serve on the Board of Directors and is the board’s Strategy Chair.  Nancy continues to contribute to UGM’s LifeChange for Women program by cooking and working in the Learning Center.
  • Dan continues to be the webmaster for the Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO).  For better or worse, this means that he is spending more time coding than painting!

We continued to travel a lot during the year. Our winter escapes included the Big Island of Hawaii and Scottsdale, Arizona.

We fulfilled one of Nancy’s wishes when we traveled to Yachats, Oregon for the WSO spring convention. She had always wanted to watch waves from a storm hitting the Oregon coast, and the weather obliged!

In May, we visited Dan’s mother and sister in Virginia for Mother’s Day, and as a bonus got to see some of my Pittsburgh cousins! We also spent some time at Colonial Williamsburg beforehand.

In past years, we had visited Park City, Utah almost every winter. But this year we decided to visit in September instead, and we had a very pleasant time.

For our fall getaway, we traveled to Hilton Head Island for golf and other exploring. We really enjoyed the “low country” cuisine while there.

We spent Thanksgiving back in Virginia with Dan’s mother and sister.

When we’re not volunteering or traveling, we continue to take golf lessons and to run and exercise. Dan still finds some time to pursue watercolor painting. And we continue to explore the Pacific Northwest.

For 2025, our current plans include a winter trip to Scottsdale, a spring cruise visiting Greece and Turkey, a return to Park City, a fall trip to Vegas, and visits to Virginia. Hopefully also more and better golf and watercolor painting….

Merry Christmas to all, and best wishes for a great 2025!
